New Ideas, New Ways, New Family

Much has happened here in the Conner-Mock Family. In doing a lot of soul searching and cleaning out the "family cobwebs" if you please, I have realized how I have let things go with the kids. We're back on track and have a new plan. I tend to get really frustrated quickly if they don't live up to their end of the bargain and give up. I've got to make up my mind to stay firm and stick with this.
I've learned that I have a HEAVY sanguine personality. Learning about the personalities in the family and how they react to each other has been truly enlightening. What a difference some awareness makes!
This week Hannah has been sick and I've been tending to her every need. She finally went back to school today. With her being sick I stayed home yesterday. This gave me the time to get a great meal on the table for all of us to sit down and eat. I made a great new spaghetti and meatball recipe. The meatballs were homemade. Call me silly but I've never made my own meatballs. This was super simple:
The Best Ever Meatballs
2 lbs. ground beef (or turkey)
1 pkg. Stove Top Chicken dressing
1 1/4 c. water
2 eggs.
Mix all of the ingredients together. Form meatballs to whatever size you desire. Place on a baking sheet and cook for 17 mins. at 400 degrees.
They were delish!!
I, of course, served them with noodles and spaghetti sauce. I also found a recipe recently that added about 2 oz. of cream cheese to their spaghetti sauce. It was so creamy and delicious! The kids went on and on about it. I thought it was great, myself!
Tonight is church and the plan is always to get something quickly and let's run!! Tomorrow I'm planning to have meatball subs for supper. We had a LOT of meatballs leftover. YAY!!
I pray that all of my friends and family are doing well. Make the time to have a meal sitting at the table all together at least ONE time this week. I know it seems like something minimal to ask, but in our busy lives we tend to put the ones we love on the back burner for busyness. I'm at fault! Live Life! Chow!

New Job

I recently started a new job at a wonderful company. I just want to document as to how happy and comfortable I am with this decision. For those of you who do not know, I was laid of July 2 of this year. Never something fun to go through. While we relied on my income, we knew we weren't going to lose it all without it for a small period of time. I immediately applied for the unemployment and started my job search. It was quite a depressing time for me. Being turned down or told no someone else is better is not something I enjoy hearing. I got very excited about a couple of opportunities and they just fell through my fingers. Hubby and I decided whatever was offered was what I needed to take (for the sake of the family finances). So, I did just that! I was not happy with the job I accepted. My hubby kept telling me that I could always keep looking and quit later. Well, that's exactly what happened! I got into an interview with Schlumberger and they offered me a job within 12 hours. They wanted me to start in two days. I had to do the UNTHINKABLE and quit a job without a two week notice. I felt sooo bad doing that, but feel so much more myself with this new position. Because of taking this wonderful position, I have postponed my shoulder surgery to December 14. Trust me, I didn't mind postponing that! Next on the agenda is to have my colonoscopy tomorrow. I have these every 5 years (preventive) because of my father's colon problems. My evening will be spent in one particular room. Can't wait!!! But, the pay off is that I can have drugs tomorrow during the procedure and sleep the rest of the day.....yay me!! I pray that all is well out in blogland with my wonderful friends and family! ENJOY YOUR DAY

Monday Madness

We all made it another day and it's a new dawn of a new week for all of us in the Conner household. This weekend held a lot of busyness for us. FRIDAY - My daughter spent Friday night with a friend and they went to the football game to root for our local High School. I had to decorate and prepare for our monthly (Mug & A Muffin) ladies gathering. I spent about 30 minutes decorating and 2-3 hours running around doing errands. When I got home, my son and I sat and made little giveaways for all of the ladies. SATURDAY - Left the house by 8:00 to pick up the breakfast foods and last minute item for the ladies gathering. We had about 25 show up to our Mug & A Muffin event. It was a lot of fun. It was relaxing to get together and not have a time schedule or agenda that we had to focus on. After leaving Mug & A Muffin, I found myself at home taking a short nap and doing a little bit of picking up at home. We decided not to go to the OU football game because of the rain issue. We wound up going over to some of our great friends' home to watch the game on PPV. We were there with several friends and had such a great time!! We watched as the rain poured during the game and were thankful that we had not gone. Miserable!! SUNDAY - Held a tight schedule for us. 9:15 Praise team/choir practice, 9:30 Sunday School, 10:30 Church, 12:30 lunch, home by 2:00, daughter & her guest to church by 3:30 for praise team, get a nap in there somewhere, 5:30 praise team practice, 6:00 church, 7:30 homeward bound!! WHEW! Makes me tired just thinking about it. All in all it was a good day for everyone! MONDAY - WORK!! Kids made it to school in great fashion and I am here at work doing my thang! We have a busy week scheduled so, I am hoping to get very easy meals taken care of this week. Let's see: MONDAY - Pizza at Mazzios - gotta love the $6.00/lg pizza TUESDAY - Meatball Subs WEDNESDAY - church day - grab & go THURSDAY - Tacos - Family meeting FRIDAY - ??? Probably another grab & go

Cleaning Poem (I couldn't resist)

I asked the Lord to tell me
Why my house is such a mess.
He asked if I'd been 'computering',
And I had to answer 'yes.'
He told me to get off my fanny
And tidy up the house.
And so I started cleaning up...
The smudges off my mouse.
I wiped and shiend the topside.
That really did the trick...
I was just admiring my work.
I didn't mean to 'click.'
But click, I did, and oops I found
A real absorbing site.
That I got SO way into it
I was into it all night.
Nothing's changed except my mouse
It's very, very shiny.
I guess my house will stay a mess...
While I sit here on my hiney.
